As the Applebatch teacher community continues to grow, we listen to our members and their needs. For the first time in a while, the education industry is finally getting some well deserved stimulus funding. However, where are the funds going and what is to be done with all that money?
At Applebatch, we believe that teachers should have more say in how to spend funds that directly affect their everyday lives. So, we created our “Empowerment Essay Contest” for members in our teacher network and all certified educators across the country.
In 500 words or less, please answer the following question: “If your school received a $1 million stimulus package, how would you spend it and why?”
Entries must be submitted as a Word document via email to info@applebatch.com. All entries must be accompanied by the entrant’s full name, email address, city, state, school, and position (teacher/principle/other). This contest is limited to one entry per person.
The prizes are as follows:
1st Place: 2 Southwest Airlines Round Trip tickets (Up to $500 in total value)
2nd Place: $250 Macy’s gift card
3rd Place: $100 Target gift card
4th Place: $50 Staples gift card
5th Place: $25 Starbucks gift card
The contest was started on July 10, and runs to October 10, 2009. The winners will be chosen on October 17, 2009. No essays will be accepted after October 10. I will contact the winners within three days of the drawing to alert them to being chosen.
The essays will be graded on three factors:
Identification of Issue - 30 points
Plan for Usage of Funds - 40 points
Writing Quality - 30 points
